Minister of Culture Nikola Selakovic and three other people accused of abuse of official position and falsification of an official document in the case of "General Staff” before the judges of the Special Court in Belgrade on February 4 at 10 am, it was confirmed for N1 in the High Court in Belgrade.
As previously reported by Informer, the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (TOK) is asking for three years in prison for Selaković in the indictment.
In addition to Minister Selaković, the directors of the Republic and City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Goran Vasić and Aleksandar Ivanović, as well as the secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Slavica Jelača, are accused in this case.
Today: Details of the indictment against Culture Minister Nikola Selaković
In the "General Staff" case, the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, which is prosecuting the defendants, is conducting abbreviated proceedings, which is why an indictment was filed, not an indictment.
This is also the reason why the main hearing was immediately scheduled, which means that the trial begins without holding a preliminary hearing, which is closed to the public by law.
On the other hand, the main hearing is public by law and can be attended by the media, but all interested members of the public.
Minister's immunity
According to the Constitution, Minister Selaković is protected by immunity, which he can invoke if he is called to criminal responsibility.
However, Selaković can only use his immunity now, because by scheduling the main trial, it is considered that criminal proceedings have been initiated.
