"No bruise, no broken rib will stop citizens who have decided to stand up. On the contrary, every beating only reinforces what the regime fears the most: that, despite everything, we are stronger day by day. They are leaving."
This is what Students in the Blockade saw on the website blokade.org violence in Uzice experienced by the people who rebelled against SNS rally and the arrival of Aleksandar Vučić.
"Ahead of the regime rally, the citizens of Užice gathered to show what this city thinks of the government. The government's response came in the form of fists, boots and chair throwing," they added.
A certain number of citizens found themselves in cafes on the square, just before it was closed. A police cordon soon surrounded the area and prevented the passage to the square, and the security forces hired for the purposes of the regime's meeting began to forcibly evict the attendees from the cafe. Right there, at that moment, the situation escalated. A video circulating on social media shows the attackers chasing, punching, kicking while he is lying down, and finally throwing a chair at a man, the students write.
According to the knowledge of witnesses, they claim, Đorđe Tošić Zeka, a local thug from Bajina Bašta, was recognized among the attackers, one of those chosen by the regime to "secure" their gatherings.
"This is not an isolated incident, but a pattern of behavior of the government which, faced with the dissatisfaction of its own people, reaches for the only method it knows: force. Where there is a lack of arguments, thugs and thugs are sent. Where there is a lack of support from citizens, security is hired to enforce party discipline in broad daylight, in front of dozens of witnesses and cameras," the students write and say that this is exactly the weakness of this government, not its strength.
A man who hits a citizen with a chair is not strong, he is desperate. A regime that has to pay for another's aggression to maintain a semblance of support admits it has lost all legitimacy, they say.
