Students in the blockade The University of Belgrade announced the "Defend the Universities" protest for Friday, May 23 at 15 p.m., which will take place in front of the building Government of Serbia and the General Staff due to the drafting of the new Law on Higher Education.
The students demanded the repeal of Decree 5/35 by which the Government changed the way the salaries of teachers and associates at higher education institutions are calculated, the dissolution of the working group for the drafting of the new Law on Higher Education, the abandonment of the "commercialization and voucherization" of education and the calling of extraordinary parliamentary elections.
"Stopping the collapse of higher education in Serbia is possible only by calling for extraordinary parliamentary elections," the students announced on social networks.
The protest was previously announced by the Rebel University initiative, which brings together professors, researchers and scientific teaching staff at the University of Belgrade.
It was announced that the protest will last until 19:XNUMX.
"It is unworthy of her office to declare that they are applying Nazi ideology for the best that this country has - youth and intelligence, the future of this country," stated the statement of the Academic Plenum, along with a request for the immediate resignation of Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić
