Students Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, which are under blockade, responded to the accusations of the Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starović and announced that the goal of the blockade Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS), among other things, and support for public service and public service workers for their rights that were taken away from them at their workplaces.
The Minister for European Integration, Nemanja Starović, said that by blocking the RTS buildings in Košutnjak and Takovska Street, "employees are being denied basic human rights."
The students of Filozofski replied that they do not dispute that RTS workers were denied basic human rights, but not because of the blockade.
"We point out the following to Starović: they are not denied by blocking the buildings of the public media service, but by denying the elementary right to dignified work, which has been denied to the workers of this company for decades," the students stated in a post on the X social network.
They added that by denying the possibility of critical reflection and acting on it, numerous malpractices, intimidation and exposure to great pressures of public media service workers violates that elementary human right.
"Therefore, the goal of this action is to support the workers and to fight for their rights that were taken away from them at their workplaces," the studnets stated.
They emphasized the unity of student demands with those of self-organized RTS workers, which they say is their ultimate goal - a just society.
"With all this in mind, we express our unconditional support to both the self-organized and all other RTS workers whose right to dignified work has been threatened for decades," said the students of the Faculty of Philosophy.
Explaining the reasons for blocking RTS, they stated that they believe that the main task of the national frequency is to report timely and impartially to the public about all relevant events.
"Since these criteria were not met, as evidenced by the way our blockades have been presented so far, we decided on a series of actions, including this one, by which we appealed to RTS not to spread misinformation and adequately report on the student struggle," the students said.
