Students blocked the Rectorate in Niš. They demand that the Novi Sad "political prisoners" who are still in custody be released
Request to Novi Sad political prisoners are released - can now be heard from the Rectorate of Nis. Students blocked this institution and went on a protest walk to the University of Nis building. They invited citizens to come and witness the second phase of the fight.
Niš students declared a blockade of the Rector's office until the rector signs a clear support for the students' demands, and not a return to classes and disruption of the blockade. Employees cannot enter the Rectorate until further notice.
"We have come to present the platform we put together as a working group for the strategy of the University of Niš. We expect it to be signed by the rector and all the deans of the University of Niš. From this moment, we will begin blocking the rector's building in Niš until this platform is signed and the request fulfilled. The rector's building and the faculties belong to the students. From this moment on, this building is only ours, until you sign the platform, and then it will belong to all of us again," student Dimitrije told "Južne vesti" Prokopovic.
On Tuesday evening, the Nis students announced a "new phase of the struggle", and invited the citizens to join them.
Students entered through the main entrance. It will remain until the rector signs a clear support for the student demands, not a return to classes and breaking the blockade.
Employees cannot enter - some were even happy, reports N1.
They are seeking clear support from the rector.
While some faculties in Niš decided to start online classes, students in the blockade again sought the support of the rector and dean for persistence in the protest.
"Some of our colleagues were released, and some were not. We are sending a clear message that for this country, the way out of the crisis is the work of the institutions, which will be ensured by elections. We are gathering so that everyone can see us. Lawlessness, selective justice cannot reign," said Bogdan Timotijević, a student at the Faculty of Law, adding:
"We don't have clear support from the Rectorate. They don't advertise."
