While a group of 80 student cyclists and those on their way of more than 1300 kilometers to Strasbourg joined, more than 150 Serbs from Kosova walk towards Belgrade to the meeting of the new national movement of the president of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić which is scheduled for April 12th.
While the first are riding bicycles to the "heart of Europe", in order to draw the attention of the residents and statesmen of the European Union countries to the lawlessness and repression in Serbia and the blockades that have been in place since mid-November, the others headed to the capital of Serbia to attend the meeting on the occasion of the establishment of the Movement for the People and the State, which the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announces for the following weekend.
Vučić did not have any comment for the first, he dedicated a post on Instagram to the others: "Thank you brothers, we love you", all with photos of snow-covered pedestrians carrying Serbian flags.
More than 260 kilometers separated the group of Serbs who went from Rudnica near Raška to Belgrade on foot, in order to attend a rally announced as "great national" on April 12 and support Aleksandar Vučić. They ended the first day of hiking in Usce - 40 kilometers from the starting point, and in the late evening they received encouragement from the president, with a message that he loves them.
They should reach Kraljevo on April 7.
Walking to Vučić
This is not the first time that Serbs from Kosovo have walked to show their support for the President of Serbia, the portal KoSSev reminds.
Adorned with banners and flags and with the banner "Serbs with Kosovo and Metohija for Serbia and Vučić", in April 2019 they headed to Belgrade to attend a rally within the "Future of Serbia" campaign. Then they were escorted from the Jarinje crossing by representatives of the local government, i.e. the leaders of the Serbian List.
On May 17, 2023, a group of Serbs from Leposavić, Kosovska Mitrovica and Kosovska Pomoravlje set off on foot for Belgrade to attend another Vučić rally, i.e. the "rally of hope" that was held on May 26 of that year.
The counter-walk of Serbs from Kosovo to the counter-rally organized by the president comes in the middle of several months of protests in Serbia and numerous walks organized by students from city to city, from place to place in all parts of the country.
Students drive to Vienna
The students who went to Strasbourg by bicycle are approaching Vienna. They were escorted by the police through Serbia, but they started from Hungary without a police escort in groups of 14 cyclists each.
At the moment when this text is written, they are in front of the Slovakian border, about twenty kilometers from Bratislava, where they will be welcomed, and then continue to the capital of Austria.
"We are being followed by the sun and the blue, which means everyone. Everyone is well, which is important," one of the students accompanying the cyclists told "Vreme".
Aleksandar Vučić on "blockaders" and others
Vučić repeatedly criticized the "blockaders" and praised "Students 2.0", a group gathered in Pionirski Park who call themselves "students who want to learn". Among them are well-known student figures who appeared with the president in the regime's media. Among them are many who are not students.
On the Students' Day, April 4, he directed the president congratulates the students, wearing the T-shirt "I am Ćaci".
He praised the efforts of the students camping in Pionirski Park, and he also mentioned the "blockaders". He congratulated them all on their day, making it clear who he was supporting.
