Student Bogdan Jovicic was released from house arrest, his lawyer Ljiljana Borović confirmed for N1.
Jovičić and two other people are charged with the criminal offense of violent behavior at sports events and public gatherings. They are accused of breaking shop windows on the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party in Kosovska Street in Novi Sad and damaging a vehicle.
He was arrested on August 14, after a large protest by students and citizens in Novi Sad.
During his stay in the detention unit of the District Prison in Novi Sad, Jovičić's father died, and he was brought to the funeral with handcuffs on his legs.
The Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions rejected the accusations of humiliation, claiming that procedures were followed and that he was given a concession so that he could receive condolences.
After that, on September 11, a decision was made to extend his detention for another 30 days, as a result of which he went on a hunger strike, after which he was transferred from detention on Klisa to a special prison hospital within the Central Prison in Belgrade.
