Party committee Serbia Center (SRCE) in Užice practically ceased to exist after its president Goran Radosavljević and seven of the eight members resigned.
Radosavljević and Ivana Filipović, who are councilors in the City Assembly, have made their councilor mandates available to the party and are currently waiting for their dismissal to be resolved. Other members of the board have announced that they will leave SRCE, writes OzonPress.
According to information obtained from former members of the Užice committee, the immediate reason for the resignations was the decision of the party leadership to have SRCE participate in the parliamentary elections on October 25 in a coalition with the Freedom and Justice Party and the Solidarity Movement, on the joint list "European Serbia - Marinika Tepić - Zdravko Ponoš".
Former board members believe that, if it was not possible to gather a wider opposition coalition, it was better for SRCE not to participate in the elections.
As an example, they cite the Movement of Free Citizens, which decided to boycott the elections precisely because of the lack of broader opposition cooperation, but at the same time supported the Student List.
According to their claims, after the resignations, there is no more SRCE board in Uzice, and all those who left its positions intend to support the Student List in the elections.
It's hard to find a trustee.
Since September 14, in the premises of the SRCE City Committee, signatures of support for the "European Serbia" newspaper have been collected, but former members of the committee claim that SRCE representatives are not participating in this activity, but only SSP members.
At the same time, part of the membership and former officials of the Serbia Center in Užice supported it with their signatures the previous weekend Student list.
According to OzonPress, the members of the Užice board were informed about the resignations, as well as the party headquarters in Belgrade, from which a reaction is expected.
After the dissolution of the board, the leadership of SRCE should appoint a trustee. However, taking into account the current situation and the fact that a significant part of the membership, together with the former leadership, supported the Student List, it is estimated that it would be difficult to find someone who would accept that position.
The former president and members of the board did not want to publicly comment on the events for OzonPress, but they said that they would not participate in the election campaigns of other parties.
