The Government of Serbia declared the Public Company "Srbijašume" an energy company. The reason for this is the importance of firewood in the upcoming heating season and the world energy crisis pushed by the war in Ukraine. The demand for firewood and pellets is significantly higher than in previous years, so this has also raised their price. It is 30 to 50 percent higher than last year - in "Srbijašume" a cubic meter of wood is about 4.000 dinars, and at the warehouse about 8.000.
The Acting General Director of "Srbijašum" Igor Braunović told RTS that the prices of firewood have been unjustifiably increased, and that it is urgent to limit exports first, and then the prices. He also mentioned that the status of an energy company in this crisis means that "Srbijašume" should pay attention to the production of energy products, i.e. to the supply of those who produce energy products, and added that they normally supply heating plants, as well as that a strategy for suppliers was made three years ago pellet.
Braunović pointed out that "Srbijašume" is ready to meet all the needs of citizens, noting that he cannot specify how much the demand for firewood is now. There are branches on the territory of Serbia where citizens can apply to buy wood from "Srbijašuma", but they have to provide loading and transportation themselves.
Braunović says that the prices of firewood have been unjustifiably increased, that in eight years in "Srbijašume" the prices have only increased by five percent, and that it is unrealistic that a cubic meter of wood in "Srbijašume" costs about 4.000 dinars, and in the warehouse about 8.000, however much additional costs, such as transportation, were included in that price. He announces a meeting with wholesale buyers where he will tell them that they must "stick" with the prices of firewood, because otherwise "Srbijašume" will think about how it will behave in relation to the delivery.
He also says that the prices of pellets, which go up to 40.000 dinars, are absolutely unjustified, when you take into account that the raw material for one ton of pellets from "Srbijašum" costs a maximum of 8.000 dinars.
