Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will hold a funeral for General Ratko Mladić tomorrow at the Church of the Holy Apostle Luke in Košutnjak, reports Tanjug, as reported by Sputnik and other media.
The Serbian Orthodox Church posted a brief statement on the official website of the Patriarchate regarding the funeral.
"The Serbian Orthodox Church informs the faithful that the funeral for General Ratko Mladić, an Orthodox Christian and Serbian soldier, will be held on Monday, September 7, 2026, in the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke in Košutnjak, starting at 12:00 p.m. Rest in peace to his soul and peace to us all," the statement said.
From 7 a.m., the coffin with the body of Ratko Mladić will be on display in the Church of St. Luke, where those present will be able to say goodbye to him in a procession until noon, when the funeral begins. After that, a column will be formed and headed for the Topčider cemetery, where General Mladić, according to his own wish, will be buried next to his daughter Ana.
Ratko Mladić, the former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, died on August 27 while he was in the custody of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts in The Hague, where he was serving a life sentence.
