Announcements that the current president of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić upon the expiration of the mandate in 2027 or after early elections which he himself announces for this year could return to office premiere, in recent weeks look less and less like speculation and more and more like a carefully prepared scenario.
Za Serbia himself, if he succeeded, essentially nothing would change: from an informal position of power, he would take over the formally most powerful position in the state. As far as the Constitution is concerned, if only everything would fall into place.

Support for such a development also comes from the top Serbian Progressive Party. Formal president of SNS, advisor to the president for regional issues and former prime minister Milos Vucevic he stated that "it would be a shame to lose such political capital", stressing that Vučić "doesn't have the comfort to retire".
In a guest appearance on Informer television, Vučević said that time has shown that Vučić knows what he is doing and added that he is convinced that citizens see this and will appreciate everything that has been done.
"I can't say that I agreed with all his moves, but it turned out that he knows what he's doing. It shows who is a real statesman. It's not realistic that he is less involved in politics, and I believe that Vučić still has energy and knowledge. It would be a great shame to let go of such capital that is in him, he does not have the comfort to retire. We expect him as president Vlade", said Vučević.

Vučić himself did not reject the possibility of returning to party politics or to the position of Prime Minister, i.e. femme in front of the audience.

Recently in interview for Reuters said that he has not yet made a decision about what he will do after the end of his presidential term, but confirmed that extraordinary parliamentary elections will be held this year. He did not rule out the possibility of returning to party politics or office premiere.

Vučić already held the office of prime minister in the period from 2014 to 2017, when elections were repeatedly called prematurely, which further consolidated the position of the ruling party and reduced the room for maneuver of the coalition partners and the opposition.
Since then, although formally according to the letter of the Constitution the president with limited constitutional powers, Vučić has maintained a dominant political influence.
Before he was elected prime minister in 2014, he served as the first deputy prime minister of the Government of Ivica Dačić and was in charge of corruption and crime.
If the announcements come true and Vučić returns to Nemanjina 11, i.e. to the position of Prime Minister, Serbia could seemingly return to the structure of the parliamentary order, but this would only once again confirm that the position itself is less important than who performs it.
