All public opinion polls indicate that the Serbian Progressive Party - more precisely, its real leader Aleksandar Vučić - has majority support in only two segments of society: among pensioners and among people who have completed eight years at most.
That is why, within the framework of the "state aid package" - as the allocation of nearly one billion euros before the elections was called - special attention is paid to pensioners.
What's coming up?
From Monday (September 14), the payment of one-time assistance in the amount of 20.000 to 35.000 dinars will start. These funds are intended for pensioners, beneficiaries of social assistance, veterans and recipients of veteran's allowance.
In addition to these payments, the package also includes a reduction in the prices of medicines, as well as the distribution of 30.000 tourist vouchers worth 10.000 dinars each.
The application for what the government and the media loyal to it refer to as a "one-time financial aid from the state" of 6.000 is also ongoing, but in fact it is it's about money from the Shareholder Fund.
You can apply through the Treasury Department until September 21, and then from September 22 to 25, the money will be paid out.
So far, more than a million citizens have registered. And the student movement called on people to take their money, underlining that this money belongs to the citizens anyway.
How much will pensions be increased?
Finance Minister Siniša Mali announced that by the end of this week, the proposal on the new increase in pensions from December 1 will be ready. It is not yet known how much.
He also reminded that the minimum salary will be increased to around 600 euros from January.
"These are all parts of a puzzle called responsible economic policy, the success we have achieved in that field and care for people," explained Mali.
