In Novi Sad, a six-hour blockade was held at the intersection of Bulevar oslobođenja and Bulevar Jaša Tomić, near the railway station, where on November 1, 14 people were killed and three others were seriously injured when a canopy fell.
U Novi Sad on Sunday, a new protest was held, the third in a row, demanding responsibility for the fall of the railway station canopy on November 1, when 14 people died and three were seriously injured. The intersection of Bulevar Oslobodenja and Bulevar Jaša Tomić, near the Railway Station, is blocked.
Citizens carried banners "I want to live", "Prison, not a foreign embassy", "How to tell someone to sign something now".
During the blockade in Novi Sad, some citizens raised "Euromaidan Serbia" flags, as well as flags of the European Union. With the comment that it was a provocation, they were asked to put down the flags, which was followed by a scuffle among the crowd.
In the last hours of the blockade, in order to keep warm, the Solidarity Kitchen organization brought coffee and tea to those gathered.
In the introductory part of the protest, it was said that only figures are heard from the Novi Sad High Prosecutor's Office, that "they announced three times, each time they told us nothing", and that none of those responsible have been arrested yet, but that is why students and civil activists are in custody , those who demanded the responsibility of the authorities.
At the beginning of the meeting, demands were repeated for the resignation of Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and the mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić, the criminal-legal responsibility of all those responsible for the reconstruction of the railway station and the opening to the public of all contracts that were declared secret.
Points have been set up in several locations where citizens can write letters to those who were arrested after previous protests, in one location they can dip their hands in red paint and leave "bloody" prints, writes 021.
Citizens paint the painted crying white dove by the artist Victor Jan, who painted a white dove, the symbol of Novi Sad, crying and bleeding for the victims of the accident. Those gathered are invited to paint the white part of the picture in red.
Stupljanin: We are at the tomb
Actress Jelena Stupljanin said at the blockade that the gathered citizens are "at the grave, and they don't even let us mourn the victims."
"My dear citizens, how are you?" I am not, we all are not. Terrible, sad, miserable, wretched, we are furious and indignant. Desperate, because we are at the grave, and they don't let us mourn the people who died here. To the children who died here, because they don't let us talk about it. Anyone who starts talking about it will be intimidated and arrested. And even if we are all arrested, those responsible for it do not suffer any consequences. Are we going to let them convince us that this is the new reality? That is why we are here today. We feel nailed down and they want to convince us that this is normal. And we are normal, and they are crazy!" said actress Jelena Stupljanin.
She stated that the government makes citizens crazy and plays with their emotions, and that is why the "struggle of normal people against crazy people" is coming.
"People died because of your corruption, and you don't take responsibility." That is why we will not be silenced. We will not hide," said Stupljanin and called on citizens to unite and point out to the authorities that their behavior is not normal.
She assessed that the citizens are occupied and wounded, and cry every day, and that's why everyone should go together, "taking care of each other".
Marcello: Cowardice with a good reason is still cowardice
Musician and writer Marko Šelić Marcelo said that speeches do not say anything, but anger, action, "action like this". He invited all citizens, athletes, national team members, actors, musicians to join "and to remember that they are people, that we all remember that we are not slaves, cattle".
"We are furious, sad, angry, wounded, but we are not helpless, not while we are here." We have each other, togetherness, solidarity," said Marcello.
He pointed out that "we need to get together and tell these inhumans that we do not agree, we will not continue like this, enough is enough".
"When you go among the people, you will see that they are not insensitive, but they will tell you that they are not here because they are afraid." Standing up against injustice in this country has consequences. That fear is real. But simply, without the intention of offending anyone, cowardice with a good reason is still called cowardice. Many will tell you they will join when that moment comes. Well, when is that moment if not now," asked Marcello
He added that people are justifiably afraid, "but courage is not a trait, courage is a decision in the midst of and due to real fear."
"You can't be afraid while the streets are stained with blood." There is no more of that. That must not happen," he emphasized.
He pointed out that it is not only a civic duty to be at the blockade, but also a human duty of all of us.
"Believe in individual courage, because it will ultimately inspire collective reality." Repeat over and over – 14 dead, XNUMX in hospital, no one in jail. What constitutes government is an attempt to make death meaningless, let's not give it, don't give it, don't give it," concluded Marcelo.
"SNS killer" messages
Participants of the protest, mostly younger people, wrote the messages "Your hands are bloody", "SNS killers", "Murderers", "Robes" on the asphalt at the intersection of Bulevar Jaša Tomić and Bulevara oslobođenja with red spray paint.
The groups Stav and SviĆa announced earlier that, considering that the government has not yet responded to the set demands, they are continuing with a gradual increase in pressure and with barricades.
On Friday, November 15 at 11.52:14 a.m., the citizens of Novi Sad stood in silence for XNUMX minutes in solidarity with the families of the victims. The Novi Sad opposition called for this action.
Because of the accident, a protest was organized in Novi Sad on November 5, when citizens and activists were taken into custody.
The investigation into the accident at the railway station in Novi Sad is ongoing, and 71 people have been questioned at the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad so far.
The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, resigned on November 5, and Prime Minister Miloš Vučević announced that news of new resignations is expected by the end of the week.
Lecturers of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade demand the release of those arrested in Novi Sad
The lecturers of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade published a statement demanding the release of those arrested in Novi Sad.
"We live in dark times of a government that is highly corrupt and in the grip of organized crime. There is no other way to explain the fact that no one took even indirect political responsibility for last year's mass murders in Belgrade, Dubona and Mali Orašje. The government continued to sow hatred, and the reality shows violence and stupidity.
Also, there is no other way to explain the fact that groups of people instructed by the authorities destroyed Novi Sad, while police in hoods, without prior identification, arrested peaceful citizens. And finally, there is no other way to explain the fact that no one has yet been arrested for the recent collapse of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad, when 14 people died, while three are still in serious condition.
The possibility that the government is probably looking for someone or some who will take the blame for the right price in order to protect those most responsible for this crime sounds terrifying.
We demand that all those arrested in Novi Sad be released as soon as possible, as well as that all those responsible for the deaths of innocents be arrested as soon as possible. Ignoring these demands inevitably leads to further polarization of society and social conflicts.
In that case, it should be remembered that the government will be the most responsible for such a situation," the statement said.
The statement was signed by 180 professors, associate professors, research associates, researchers, assistants and other employees at the Faculty of Philosophy.
