The sixth of October is a date full of symbolism because, logically, it comes after on the fifth of October. Although, some say that in 2000, the sixth of October did not even exist.
Aleksandar Šapić was still in speedo-shorts then, he will later be the best water polo player in the world. But this week, on Tuesday, he smoothly survived his personal sixth October and the session of the City Assembly where his dismissal was not even discussed.
"Vreme" writes about this in the new issue, which is on newsstands from Thursday (October 8).
General condemnations, concrete silence
"Opposition promised to formally request it in the coming period, even though it is clear that they do not have a majority," writes Danil Savić's text. The reason is the beating of a city councilwoman Tatjana Micic from the movement Go-Change. In the meantime, she overcame surgery on her broken nose and jaw.
Progressives condemned "all violence", but did not say whether they were in favor of replacing Šapić.

"Vreme" tried to ask Aleksandar Mirković, the head of the SNS committee group, this very question, but he politely apologized and said that he could not speak. Even the progressive did not want to talk about it Nebojša Bakarec, nor Tom Filla from Socialist Party of Serbia.
"The silence of the progressives and socialists, who will continue to wait for the decision of the party headquarters on what to do, was striking," the article reads.
Waiting for a buffet from above.
Opposition councilor Stefan Simic (PSG) told Vreme: "They keep silent and it's part of the tactic because they believe it's a show of strength, even though they don't understand that it's the exact opposite."
The opposition does not have the majority to replace Šapić, so there is every chance that the progressives will decide what to do with him only after the elections on October 25 because they will not show "weakness" now.
It is no secret, as "Vreme" previously wrote, that Šapić does not have much support within the party of which he is the vice-president and that he has only a few cadres with whom he is on good terms.
