Member of Parliament of Serbia Shaip Kamberi he asked the president of Serbia today Aleksandar Vučić whether insulting Albanians and hate speech can constitute a basis for obtaining privileges and employment in state institutions.
During the part of the parliamentary session devoted to parliamentary issues, Kamberi reminded of the gatherings held in Ljopardinac and Strezovac, where, as he stated, insulting messages were presented in the presence of the President of Serbia Albanians.
He singled out the case of a citizen who used the derogatory term "Šiptar", after which Vučić, according to Camberi, promised him employment in Security and Information Agency (BIA) within 48 hours, writes FoNet.
Kamberi therefore asked the President of Serbia to explain whether he considers it acceptable for a person who publicly expresses hatred and contempt for Albanians to be rewarded with a promise of employment in the BIA, especially if such employment would be achieved outside of normal recruitment procedures and legal rules.
During his address, the MP particularly problematized the reaction of the President of Serbia to the insulting statements made at the aforementioned gatherings. He asked why Vučić did not react publicly and condemned the hate speech directed at Albanians.
Kamberi, through his questions, opened up the broader topic of relations towards Albanians in Serbia, i.e. the possibility that public expressions of hatred or insults towards members of the Albanian community affect the realization of rights, privileges or opportunities for employment in state institutions.
