City manager Miroslav Čučković announced demolition of several parts of Belgrade.
Thus, in a few months, the demolition of the Trg Republike Shopping Center of the famous "Staklenac" in the city center could begin, Čučković announced on TV Blic and eKapija reports.
Glasshouse, Bajlonijeva
The Staklenac shopping center was built at the end of the eighties of the last century as a replacement for other temporary buildings - metal kiosks that were in that place. Since then, there have been several talks about its demolition, due to the previously planned construction of an opera and ballet, and ten years ago due to the construction of a multi-functional cultural facility.
The reason for the latest plan to remove Staklenac is preparations for works related to the construction of the subway, writes eKapija.
Apart from Staklenac, as part of this work, by the end of the year, the plan is to remove the Bajlonie market.
New panorama of Belgrade
"The panorama of Belgrade will look different in the coming months. In addition to the mentioned buildings, a large number of industrial buildings in the vicinity of the Panceva Bridge will be removed, because at that point the mole will enter from that direction and head towards Bajlonija and the Republic Square. The panorama of Banovo Brdo will also change soon. There will no longer be those pumps on the corner of Blagoj Parović and Požeška, because there will also be a metro station there. Also, the park in that part of the city will be moved to the part of the park that is now unorganized, because there will also be a construction site in the area of Banovo brdo. For the same reasons, Vodovodska, in a length of 100 meters, on the corner with Trgovacka, will be closed," said Čučković.
Despota Stefan Boulevard
Čučković also spoke about the closure of Despot Stefana Boulevard due to the digging of the tunnel from the Sava to the Danube slope. It is planned that this boulevard will be closed for two years, which should tentatively happen from August this year.
The first phase involves the construction of roads leading to the center and from the direction of the center to the Pancevački bridge, Čučković announced. The machine that will dig will go underground in the middle of the boulevard and from there it will head towards the Faculty of Economics. He added that, when the tunnel is finished, according to current projections, about 30 public transport lines that now pass through, for example, France, Svetogorska or Macedonia will be transferred underground.
Meeting at the Fair
He announced that the loading and transport of the mole from China to Constanta will take place in the coming weeks, and he expects it to be delivered by September.
It is planned, as he said, that the metro moles dig for 550 days from their directions and meet at the Fair.
Čučković also spoke about the construction of a central factory for the processing of waste water, and announced that the commercial contract will be signed during this summer.
"The contract for the construction of a waste water treatment plant in the area of the left bank of the Danube is already in force and it is something that should be completed within 36 months," said city manager Miroslav Čučković.
