Radio and Television of Serbia on Thursday (April 24) submitted a report to the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade against an unknown person, for endangering security and persecution, writes the RTS website.
Students from April 14th block it RTS facilities in Takoviska Street in Belgrade and in Košutnjak, and the blockade will, as they stated earlier, last until the announcement of a new competition for the election of the Council Regulatory body for electronic media (REM), or "until RTS turns off".
In the report, RTS stated that "on an unspecified day and in an unspecified place, unknown persons created so-called warrants, in black and white technology, on which there are names and surnames, as well as photos of RTS editors and journalists-a".
On the "wanted warrants" above the photos of RTS workers, the title is: "Wanted", and in the header of the warrants it says "Students in blockade", the application states.
As stated, on April 15, warrants were posted on buildings, flags, traffic signs and other public areas in Takovska and nearby streets in the city center by "unknown persons".
Also, warrants have been affixed to the premises of RTS in Kneza Višeslava Street, it is stated.
"Social stigmatization of journalists"
As it is added in the application published by RTS on its website, "such actions of the perpetrators are aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among RTS employees, because such 'warrants' can be understood as a public call for persecution, violence and attacks on journalists, who found themselves on them".
It is added that "in the context of the current protests, the posting of these warrants is perceived as a form of social stigmatization of journalists, who are placed in the position of 'targets'".
RTS also stated that the phrase "Wanted" is traditionally and culturally associated with wanted criminals, fugitives and persons who need to be caught or punished.
"When such a message is published publicly with photos of journalists, it has the connotation that they are a target, that someone is looking for them and that they could be harmed," it said.
It is added that the employees of RTS, whose names and surnames and photos were published on the warrants, have felt fear since April 15, are afraid to leave their homes, experience insults and threats from unknown persons on social networks, as well as on the street.
