Branimir Nestorović was born in 1954 in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Belgrade, where he received his doctorate. He is a pediatrician, pulmonologist and allergist by profession. He was a full professor at the Department of Pediatrics, and for three decades he was employed at the University Children's Clinic. He is the head of the department of allergology and pulmonology at the University Children's Clinic in Tiršov.
He entered politics in the nineties as a member of the Serbian Reconstruction Movement (SPO). "I participated in demonstrations against Milosevic for years, as I was a member of the SPO, and those monarchist ideas were close to me."
After "years" of protesting as a member of the SPO, he entered the "government of national unity" as an assistant minister of education. He later explained that at first he said no to the position, but then he was offered to "do something for real". "It was about the reform of higher education. I'm very sorry that it failed, because I really put a lot of effort into it. I think it would work."
Nestorović sees politics as something that "horribly takes away energy" and as a "short-term human activity". "I learned my lesson there that I shouldn't deal with it, because I wasted a year on a business that ended up failing." And then I saw that I should do what I do best".
However, it was not an obstacle for him to join another political party after SPO. After October 5, Nestorović, as he himself said, received an "invitation that cannot be refused" from the Democratic Party (DS). "Even so, they forced me to become a member." He did not stay long in DS. He said that he was not for either party, and that "progressives were not close to his heart".
It became known to the general public at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, in February 2020. While at that time a new and unknown virus was already claiming many lives around the world, Nestorović assured the public that the virus only exists on Facebook.
His statement that "estrogens definitely protect women from viruses" so that they can freely go "shopping in Milan" was laughed at by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and the doctors who will later be part of the Crisis Staff. "The epidemic in China is coming to an end... It is already known that the virulence of the virus is decreasing, the virus is getting weaker and weaker. Otherwise, he is weak," Nestorović said at the time, adding that the coronavirus was ridiculous.
Just two weeks later, the entire country was locked down, the coronavirus has claimed more than 15 thousand lives in Serbia so far. Later, Nestorović said that he was "joking", and the President of Serbia selflessly defended him by saying that no one has ever said that the coronavirus is the funniest virus.
Due to the spread of misinformation about the coronavirus and vaccination, Nestorović was kicked out of the Crisis Staff. He said that he would "rather die than receive a vaccine", talked about "miracle" drugs against corona and ivermectin. That did not prevent the President of Serbia from awarding Nestorovic with the Order of the Star of Karađorđe, second degree, for his outstanding fight against the epidemic.
Among doctors, he is considered one of the greatest experts in the field of children's pulmonology and allergology. Regardless, some of his doctors turned to the Ethics Committee of the Medical Chamber of Serbia, because of his public appearances "which damage the reputation and cause damage to the medical profession, as well as health care as a whole." The doctors gathered in the association "United against Covid" went a step further and filed a criminal complaint against Nestorović. There is still no epilogue to these processes.
Although he is respected as a children's pulmonologist, he is even more beloved among conspiracy theorists in Serbia. He was happy to be seen as a guest on "happy" television and shows like Balkan info. There, he often talks about aliens, "time-space boundaries," time travel, the Bermuda Triangle, and lost airplanes.
He thinks that "science is incapable of explaining some things" like blue and green eyes in humans. "Aliens have blue eyes, so they mated with human women and that's how blue and green eyes came about." So people with blue and green eyes are aliens."
In December of this year, he founded the "Knights of the Order of the Dragon" movement. He then explained that the primary goal of the association is to change the behavior model of children "who are subject to serious manipulation." He said that he has no political ambitions "but if it thickens, by God it will burst" because he believes that he has between 20 and 25 percent of the support of the citizens of Serbia. He believes that the pressure of "pro-Western forces on Serbia and our legislation" is terrible.
Although it was speculated that Nestorović could be the candidate of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) for mayor of Belgrade, he will be the first on the list of the Reformist Party, which brings together several movements and associations, such as the New Association of Pensioners of Serbia, the Association of Farmers, the Association of the Homeless of Serbia...
