On Saturday, on the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije celebrated the Holy Liturgy in their church in the Belgrade neighborhood of Kotež, and on that occasion highlighted "the example of the two apostles for our everyday life, an example that starts from the fact that they are different to the extent that they argue about very important things, things that concern life and things that concern religion. This shows that they do not live in a dictatorial single-mindedness, but that they think differently, but that, since they are people of faith and repentance, they also show unanimity".
As he added, we can and are different and no one is looking for unanimity, especially not in the house of God, in the Church of Christ, but the goal of each of us should be to be of one mind, and that means that we want to be one, regardless of the fact that we are different and diverse, that we think, speak and act differently.
The way to realize this, Patriarch Porfirius pointed out, is the example of the two apostles, which is repentance - "it is to forgive each other, to seek forgiveness from each other".
On Friday evening, in Užice, at the protest that was held on Friday evening in Užice, with the request to release the previously detained protest participants from that city, priest Milić Dragović addressed the crowd and told them that they were "surely the bravest and most daring".
"Let us all pray together to the supreme apostles Peter and Paul to be our helpers before God, that God will make us wise and strengthen us, encourage us, that Serbia and our city will get a more beautiful face and a fairer face. You who have gathered are certainly the bravest and most daring," he said at the protest in Užice.
He also said that he, as a priest, believes that "the church should have a clearer voice", as if "God has never been against earthly justice, if someone is guilty he should receive some punishment, not because we don't love him, but to improve and be better", he said.
The speech of priest Milić Dragović became viral on social networks.
Previously, the Diocese of Žička of the Serbian Orthodox Church, on the occasion of, as stated, the unpleasant events that are currently shaking the cities of that diocese, called on the representatives of the authorities not to forget their essential duty: to protect the people.
