Leskovac is one of the 64 local governments where the assembly was dissolved and the Provisional Authority was introduced. It is chaired by the current mayor, Goran Cvetanović, but among the members of this body there is no representative of the opposition group of citizens "For Leskovac together".
The group of citizens "Together for Leskovac" had councilors in the now dissolved assembly, and according to the law, they should also be in the Provisional Authority.
The temporary body in Leskovac consists of, in addition to the president and the resigned mayor Cvetanović, progressives and members of the city council Stefan Kitanović and Brankica Stamenković, member of the SPS and recent president of the Assembly Aleksandar Đurović and MP and city leader of United Serbia Nenad Filipović.
The president of the councilor group of citizens "Together for Leskovac" Nebojša Cakić told "Južne vesti" that they were entitled to one seat based on the results of the last elections.
"In the last elections, we were the third electoral list according to the results and, by law, we were entitled to that one place in the temporary body of the City of Leskovac. According to all parameters, valid until now, it belonged to us. "As far as we know, such a decision was only made in Leskovac," said Cakić.
He believes that the reason for such a decision is an attempt to deny them access to documents and insight into the decisions they make.
"Now, before the elections, they will be able to work without any supervision, and now money is being distributed, works are starting, foundation stones are being laid, and so on." "We won't know what's going on and they will be able to do whatever they want," says Cakić.
They are still not sure what their next step will be.
"We will see what we will do." It would be logical to lodge an objection with the Administrative Court, but we have to think about it because it could cause the election to be prolonged, which would not suit us," explains Cekić.
In all the municipalities in the south of the country where the assemblies were dissolved, the previous mayors and presidents of the municipalities were elected as presidents of temporary bodies, "Južne vesti" writes.
