High temperature and long lasting absence of significant precipitation they left visible consequences - the water receded, and large parts of the riverbed were left completely bare, writes Ozon Press.
Where the river normally stretches, gravel, sand and silt can now be seen, while the water breaks through a section of the bed only a few meters wide.
Contact info Republic Hydrometeorological Institute confirm that the water level of Western Morava is extremely low. At the end of July, -5 centimeters was recorded at the measuring station in Čačak, -63 in Miločaj, -67 in Trstenik, while in Jasika the water level reached -127 centimeters. We are talking about an extremely low water level and a significant withdrawal of water from the riverbed, which is especially striking in some places.
Prolonged drought does not only change the appearance of the river - low water levels can also affect the temperature and quality of the water, as well as the flora and fauna that depend on the river ecosystem.
Instead of a swollen river that can threaten the coast during heavy rains, we have an almost bare riverbed and a stream that can barely be seen in some places.
How long this image will last will depend on the weather conditions and the amount of precipitation in the coming period. Until then, the view of Western Morava remains a striking indicator of how quickly prolonged drought and high temperatures can change the face of the river.
