"The street itself is not enough, because Aleksandar Vučić he sees that his system still works, and the transitional government is an 'intermediate goal' to free, fair and democratic of choice", was said on Wednesday in the debate "Is there a way to a transitional government" organized by the weekly "Vreme" New Optimism Movement.
The vice-president of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) Marinika Tepić pointed out that it is completely unimportant what the body is called - transitional or expert government, but the important goal is the fulfillment of student demands and the preparation of fair and democratic elections.
Tepić said that this body, as a way out of the current social crisis, should prepare the conditions for free elections within six to nine months, which first of all implies cleaning the voter list and freeing the media, and first of all RTS.
According to her, that body should fulfill student demands and enable the establishment of a prosecutor for high corruption with the prosecutorial police.
"Vučić's regime is not capable of organizing free elections"
The president of the New Democratic Party of Serbia, Miloš Jovanović, said that all opposition parties started from the conclusion that such crises in normal societies are resolved by fair and free elections.
"Vučić's regime is not capable of organizing such elections," Jovanović pointed out and added that this is why an "intermediate goal" is needed, i.e. a transitional government.
Jovanović said that it is necessary to consider serious forms of civil disobedience, because this kind of regime is not overthrown by marches.
"As citizens, as anti-SNS, as a democratic, decent Serbia, we need to bring Vučić to a state where he has no choice but to accept the transitional government," he emphasized.
According to Jovanovic, it is about "cold machinery" and the emotions caused by cyclists on the way to Strasbourg do not help.
"At some point we will have to identify that the regime is going to hurt and take decisive action," he said.
"The story of anti-political narratives is exaggerated, and the story of 'disgusting politics' is artificially created. You can't do without politics, there will always be political parties, there will always be someone who is the president of the state," he said.
"The transitional government is a serious project"
Professor Tanasije Marinković of the Faculty of Law believes that the example of North Macedonia is the closest example of a transitional government to Serbia, because the crisis there arose from a legal problem - illegal wiretapping and public reaction.
"The opposition political parties presented their proposal for the conversation, ProGlas did the same, as did the students of certain faculties," Marinković said.
He emphasized that "the street by itself is not enough, because Vučić sees that his system is still functioning".
"The transitional government is a serious project that should enable its demolition," he added and predicted that the transitional government must be adopted in the Serbian Parliament with social pressure.
Marinković added that the institutions have collapsed, and some future ministers, teams of the best experts, would start "from the red".
Society has changed significantly due to the protests of students and citizens
Local Front activist Predrag Voštinić argued for a transitional government, because it is the only peaceful solution proposed for now.
"This government is ruthlessly ready to go into repression, which is now more and more exposed," he warned.
Voštinić said that everyone has witnessed that society has changed significantly due to the protests of students and citizens.
"If we adopt the fact that we judge by deeds and not by affiliation, it would mean that only those who did not contribute to the fact that there had to be a transitional government can stay," Voštinić said.
"Why do you care about the fate of the protest? Because the older generations, like mine, have no patience, unlike students who almost lost a year, educators who paid with material loss of wages, parents as well," said Voštinić.
He assessed that it should be considered "an investment in the society we want to live in, and not seen as collateral damage."
The delegitimization of the Vučić regime is happening
Green-Left Front MP Đorđe Pavićević said that the delegitimization of Vučić's regime is already happening, but it is a misconception that international pressure is coming just like that.
"The government must have a clear mandate and capacity to implement it, so that the citizens have confidence in it, that it does not favor any actor," explained Pavićević and assessed that this is what the students are saying - neither the government nor the opposition.
"Students broke the citizens' fear of the apparatus of force, and even the government no longer has such confidence that this apparatus will implement their wishes," he said.
Pavićević said that elections without a transitional government are a big risk.
