Chief Fire Chief Croatia Slavko Tucaković told Croatian Radio that during the night there were no new flare-ups at fire sites throughout the country. Firefighters were on duty at all locations, and the situation on Dinara is more favorable, which is why there was no need to engage the air force this morning, Croatian Indeks.hr reports.
During the day, the rehabilitation of the fire, especially the one above, will continue Omis, where there was an open fire during the night, which was extinguished in the meantime.
In the meantime, the State Attorney's Office of Croatia (DORH) ordered an autopsy and DNA analysis of the body found in the area of Stanić near Omiš, in order to determine the cause of death and the identity of the victim. The police previously announced that they are looking for the citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragana Antešević, who disappeared on Thursday evening in Stanići.
Stable in Serbia, but firefighters on the ground
U Deliblato Sands fire has covered 3.065 hectares, and as Marko Marinović from "Vojvodinašum" told RTS, the fire is still in several places. "There are still three large and two smaller hotspots, and the fire is being extinguished within those limits. We are monitoring the situation 24 hours a day. The goal is to defend the defense lines and prevent the fire from penetrating them," Marinović points out.
More than 300 people, about 70 machines, as well as helicopters if necessary, participate in extinguishing every day. Marinović assesses for RTS that the situation is more stable, but that there is no room for relaxation due to the specific terrain and changing wind.
The fire at Stolovi is also a problem, where, as Marko Marinović from "Srbijašum" says, there are still two fronts. Strong wind makes extinguishing difficult, while on certain mountain slopes intervention from the ground is too risky for firefighters.
The final extent of the damage to the Tables will be known after the fire is completely extinguished. Marinović told RTS that the ecological damage is great, bearing in mind that around 700 plant taxa have been recorded in that area, which represents approximately one fifth of all plant species in Serbia.
Despite the stabilization in some locations, teams in both countries remain on the ground, and the weather conditions still pose a risk of reactivation of the fire.
