Citizens of Niš, Kragujevac and Belgrade gathered to support students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad who were previously thrown out of the building by the police, at the invitation of the dean.
Police again used excessive force on the students and those gathered in the building Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and pushed everyone gathered out of the building that the students blocked in advance.
The blockade and the action of the police in Novi Sad have ended, and the students have said that they will not stop until Jelena Kleut is returned to the faculty and until they have a free University, adding that the fight continues.
Gathering in front of the National Assembly
At the invitation of the Belgrade choirs, citizens are gathering in front of the Assembly as a sign of protest against today's police action at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.
Before the beginning of the protest, it was recorded that several police officers were arriving in front of the Assembly.
Traffic in front of the Assembly is blocked. Part of the citizens approached Pionirski Park. Those who stay in this area also gather there, near the tent.
Along the fenced Pionirski Park, there are police officers in equipment for breaking up demonstrations, with their shields down and their helmets off.
Gatherings in Niš and Kragujevac
Gatherings of support for Novi Sad students who previously gathered at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and blocked it as a sign of support for Professor Jelena Kleut, who was dismissed, were held in Niš and Kragujevac.
The rally in Kragujevac ended in front of the police department.
What happened in Novi Sad?
Since professor Jelena Kleut was fired, the students blocked the building and told the administration to leave the faculty by 14 p.m.
At the invitation of the Administration, the police arrived at the university around 4:00 p.m. to talk to the students. However, a few minutes later, strong police forces of the Intervention Unit and the Gendarmerie came to the university.
The police forcibly pushed the students and professors out of the faculty - they testified that they were punched.
In a police operation the son of truck driver Milomir Jaćimović, Milan Jaćimović, was arrested.
The students in Novi Sad finished their action for today, but they announced that there will be actions every day until Kleut returns to work.
