What are the charges against me?
The chief public prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanović, indicated that there is a justified suspicion that their failures contributed to and are in a cause-and-effect relationship with the mentioned tragedy, because if they had acted conscientiously and performed the duty of an extraordinary inspection, as well as control of the fulfillment of the conditions during the trial work itself, then they would have been able to visually notice signs of breakage and increased deflection of the canopy in the days preceding its collapse.
"Slobodanka K. is charged with the criminal offense of Abuse of official position from Article 359 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and the criminal offense of Serious crime against general security from Article 288 paragraph 2 and paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code in connection with Article 278 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code," the statement reads.
It is added that Milutin S. and Biljana K. are charged by the indictment with the criminal offense of Unconscionable work in service from Article 361 paragraph 2 in connection with paragraph 1 in connection with paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code and the criminal offense of Aggravated crime against general security from Article 288 paragraph 2 and paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code in connection with Article 278 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.
Stefanović pointed out that an order was issued to suspend the investigation in relation to Commission members Jelena V. and Marije NJ because there is no evidence that they committed any criminal act that is being prosecuted ex officio, Stefanović stated.
He noted that, during the investigation, based on the statements of the defendants, witnesses and reviewed written documentation published on the website of the Government of Serbia, it was established that the two of them were misled by the accused members of the Commission about the performed technical supervision, which excludes illegality in their actions.
According to the chief public prosecutor, the corrupt element in this case is reflected in the failure to perform supervisory duties and the failure to perform official duties, and the criminal acts of malpractice in the service as well as abuse of official position represent the so-called corrupt criminal acts.
On the other hand, as he explained, the VJT in Novi Sad filed charges against other defendants for the criminal offense Aggravated crime against general security in the area of the so-called. general crime.
