The students decided to react to the attempts of certain faculties that are friends with the authorities and try to suppress them student protests. Thus, at the DIF in Novi Sad and the Academy of Vocational Studies of Western Serbia in Uzice, totals began blockades of institutions.
DIF students say that at the plenum they voted for a total blockade, which means banning teachers and other staff from entering the faculty. They decided to take this step because of, as they say, illegitimate decisions of the Teaching and Research Council, which decided to start online classes without consulting the students.
"According to our knowledge, there is very little response from students for online classes, that's why we think that there are so many announcements by the faculty regarding online classes, because they are not satisfied with the response. We conducted an email survey with students of our faculty, we have over 440 students who declared that they will boycott online classes. And that's not all students, because some of them did not have a valid email when they enrolled in the faculty," said one student about the blockade to 021.
They add that the condition to end the blockade is the fulfillment of student demands.
They also point out that communication with the dean and professors has been completely cut off since last week. They say that the dean himself abolished the communication team, which was composed of professors and students, and which started to function well. They also add that the faculty does not have a license for online teaching.
Students from Užice also entered a similar blockade. They have started a 24-hour blockade, which will prohibit any attempt to enter this higher education institution. The students of the Faculty of Pedagogy also joined them, although this faculty has not yet made a decision on the start of classes. For Nova.rs, they say that the election of the new Minister of Education, Dejan Vuk Stanković, is a disastrous decision, and for the students of the Faculty of Education, it is a kind of shame.
"Teaching and non-teaching staff will not be able to enter the premises of the academy, we are not giving up on our demands. The pressures of the ministry to start classes have intensified, and even this with online classes. We are not the first institution that has a problem with that. We have professors who still support us, we also have those who are restrained, but also those who do not support the blockades, whose number is gradually increasing due to these pressures. Our response to this is only a stronger fight, and they strengthen us more and more with their actions," he said. student "Strazburac" Dušan Savić for Nova.rs.
