"It is not known that anything has been done in the meantime to find the perpetrators. This attitude of the police towards the attacks on the grave of the first democratic Prime Minister of Serbia after 1918 is undoubtedly a reflection of the attitude that the regime of Aleksandar Vučić has towards Djindjic, his political ideas and overall political legacy," the DS stated.
From the party headed by Srđan Milivojević, they assess that "just as vandals destroyed vases and plucked flowers from Đinđić's grave, so Vučić has been trying for years to destroy political ideas and uproot the germ of resistance to radicalism in Serbia that was sown by Đinđić and the founders of the Democratic Party."
"The Democratic Party knows that Vučić and his followers are the political instigators of the vandalism at Djinđić's grave, and perhaps directly or indirectly his principals. That is why the police behave so indolently towards cases that deeply disturb every thinking, responsible and well-intentioned person in Serbia," the announcement states.
Radical lies
The DS also pointed out that "Vojislav Seselj and his political son Vucic tried to discredit Djindjic during his lifetime, to convince the citizens of Serbia of their lies about him, and after his murder they did everything they could to desecrate his memory and destroy his political legacy".
"Their efforts are in vain. Djindjic is stronger dead than alive, because of the strength of his idea, his belief in a better Serbia and his love for his country, which he showed in his public, scientific and political activities," the statement said.
