The Central Election Commission (CEC) has not announced the electoral list of the Serbian List for the February 9 elections.
As the reason for this decision, "Koha" reported, the alleged nationalist statements of the president of the Serbian List, Zlatan Elek, made during the presentation of the electoral list.
The candidacy of the Serbian List at the session of the CEC, as reported by the Pristina media in the Albanian language, was opposed by two members of the Commission in front of the Self-Determination movement, Sami Kurteši and Aljban Krasnići.
"I have my reservations and I have to express them." There are many elements, that is, the presentation of candidates of the Serbian List. Therefore, Kosovo is not mentioned anywhere, instead it says Kosovo and Metohija. They don't say 'long live Kosovo, long live Serbia,'" Kurtesi said.
According to him, the representatives of that list maintain contacts with the government of Aleksandar Vučić, with Milan Radoičić, who is connected to the terrorist attack in Banjska, and allegedly also recently on the Ibar-Lepenac canal.
And while another member of the CEC, Alban Krasnići, also spoke out against the certification of the Serbian list, who requested the action of the prosecution as well as some other members of the opposition, the representative of the Democratic Party in the CEC, Arianit Eljšani, reminded that the check of the list of candidates went through several institutions and that none of them he had no objections.
However, the Party of Kosovo Serbs, a political entity led by Aleksandar Jablanović, who also refers to Kosovo as "Kosovo and Metohija" in the notifications of this entity on social networks, was certified by the CEC for the next elections.
Furthermore, Jablanović, as Minister for Communities and Return, called the mothers from Djakovica "savages" in 2015, after they organized a protest against Serbian pilgrims who visited the church on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas.
This statement caused protests, in addition to massive public reactions. Aljbin Kurti, leader of the Self-Determination Movement and current prime minister, led those protests.
On the list of all political parties certified by the CEC for participation in the February 9 elections, Jablanović's party is 22nd on the list.
