The deadline for replacing Serbian driver's licenses for citizens with overstay on Kosovo it expires on August 23, and everyone who does not have it after that driver's licenses issued by the Kosovo authorities will be fined from 500 to 1500 euros in case the offense is repeated, writes KoSSev.
If the driver is stopped without a Kosovo driver's license, he must call someone with a valid Kosovo license to collect and drive away the vehicle.
Kosovo police have announced that Serbian licenses will be treated as invalid and drivers with such documents will be fined as if they had no license at all.
The Kosovo Police emphasizes that after the current deadline expires on August 23, there will be no new deadline extensions.
More than 6000 requests submitted
According to the data of the Kosovo Police, more than 6000 requests were submitted for the replacement of Serbian driving licenses of the "Republic of Kosovo", of which more than 5300 requests were submitted in the north of Kosovo.
Certificates from Serbian health institutions are accepted instead, but exclusively from Kosovo ones.
It is allowed to add categories from the Serbian to the Kosovo driver's license, but only for those who passed the exam for the corresponding categories from June 10, 1999 to May 9, 2024.
The complete process of replacing a Serbian driver's license with a Kosovo driver's license takes 15 days, and citizens will receive the Serbian driver's license back as an invalid document, as it will be physically cancelled.
