Dissatisfied with the fact that the city government, in violation of the law, does not announce elections for local communities in Novi Sad, representatives of Novi Sad citizens' assemblies have been blocking 30 intersections for a month. They announce a "final blockade" for Monday
After a month of blockade 30 Intersection u Novi Sad, and more than a month after the expiration of the legal deadline for calling council elections local communities, on Monday, June 16, citizens' assemblies are organizing the "final blockade" of the intersection near Banovina.
Every week for the past month, the choirs have blocked 30 intersections as a sign of protest against the non-calling of elections for local communities in accordance with the law.
Now all 30 assemblies of citizens of local communities will together block one intersection - near Banovina, where Mihajla Pupin Boulevard and Žarko Zrenjanin Boulevard intersect, reports portal 021.rs.
"With this blockade, the Choirs of Novi Sad show that when we play the end, it is only the beginning. Instead of the previous 30 intersections, this time we are blocking only one - with the message that this intersection will determine which way we go," the Choirs say.
As they state in the announcement, the people of Novi Sad persistently demanded every week that their constitutionally guaranteed right to vote and be elected be fulfilled.
"The only response we received was ignoring and meaningless excuses, with which representatives of the government showed their ignorance, incompetence and fear of calling elections," the statement said.
That is why, they add, they are announcing the final blockade of intersections, but with the message "that they are not tired and that the fight continues".

Why do the authorities in Novi Sad not announce elections for local communities?
Although the deadline for calling elections expired on May 14, 2025, there is still no indication of when they could be held.
The mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, recently told N1 that the elections were not called, because the councils of the Ministry of Health did not harmonize the statutes with the City's decision on the local communities of Novi Sad, which came into force on January 1, 2022. According to that decision, the councils of the local communities were obliged to harmonize their statutes with the Decision by July 1, 2022, so the mayor, since they did not do it within the given deadline, characterized them as not up-to-date.
And why did progressive "respectable people" decide that the elections for local communities in Novi Sad should be postponed as long as possible?

They lost them in the three local communities of Liman in 2021 as well, despite electoral tricks and fraud, despite buying votes, intimidation of citizens and the involvement of all the city's criminal gangs. And where it won't be now, four years later, when even those who live in the darkest basements of reality have become clear about who rules the city and what he has done to the city.
It was not only the gruesome tragedy at the Novi Sad Railway Station that opened their eyes: namely, at every corner it is visible what the highly corrupt and, to say the least, incompetent city government has done to the once comfortable city. Novi Sad is a fast-growing shantytown over which an urbicide of heavenly proportions was carried out. A city of incredible impossibilities.
