Residents of the local community "Boลกko Buh" who oppose the construction of a church on the green area near Strand organized on Saturday to whitewash the graffiti that appeared in the previous days, which were interpreted as hateful, threatening and divisive graffiti.
Instead of graffiti, individual citizens painted murals.
Since this morning, citizens have been posting videos on social media of groups of men gathering in this area, who are assumed to be SNS supporters, writes N1.
According to the portal 021.rs, the activists went to Fruลกkogorska Street, and then to the People's Front, where they started drawing tricolors with paint on the buildings.
However, when the action of SNS activists ended, the citizens gathered in the assembly decided to repaint the facades and return them to their previous state.
DS: A member of the Democratic Party was beaten
The Democratic Party announced that today in the Liman settlement of Novi Sad, the "beaters" of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), under the pretext of drawing tricolors, physically attacked citizens.
A member of the Democratic Party was also beaten in the attack, and was transported to the Emergency Center with serious injuries, the statement claims.

Vucevic: The citizens will not allow the desecration of the flag
The president of the Serbian Progressive Party and former mayor of Novi Sad and prime minister Miloลก Vuฤeviฤ spoke about today's drawing of tricolors on the buildings on Liman.
Vuฤeviฤ posted a video on Instagram in which a column of young men can be seen walking down Liman and painting the Serbian tricolor on buildings.
"Citizens of Novi Sad have shown today that they will not allow anyone to desecrate the Serbian tricolor on Serbian streets," said Vuฤeviฤ.
In a message posted on Instagram, sitting in front of the icon, he stated that today he visited his party colleague and Minister of Public Investments, Darko Gliลกiฤ, who is in the intensive care unit of the Central Committee of Serbia after suffering a stroke at the beginning of the week, and that "anyone who enlarges the photo (circulated to Viber groups of citizens)" can see that he was not at Liman, and that he did not personally lead the action of beating citizens during today.

Bravo: We are looking for a reaction from the police

"Bravo" adds that this kind of behavior is particularly worrying after yesterday's attacks on residents of Baฤki Petrovac, as well as recent incidents directed against citizens and students in Novi Pazar.
Graffiti painted over
At several locations on Liman 1 and Liman 2, graffiti appeared on the night between August 4 and 5 with the message: "On Liman, there will be dawn, near the Strand, there will be a church" and "On Liman, there will be dawn, commies, there will be a church."
The citizens' assembly reacted with the assessment that these graffiti appear in parallel with the attempt of the city authorities to build a temple of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the green area near the entrance to the ล trand city beach, wrote Danas.
Nataลกa Matijeviฤ, a member of the Council of the Local Municipality "Liman", told journalists during the action that it was organized at the request of the citizens, in order to remove messages aimed at division and hatred.
"Despite the fact that the citizens of Liman a year and a half ago, at a legal and legitimate meeting of citizens, made a decision that they do not want any building to be built on the meadow near Strand, not even a church, this government and the mayor at its head, persistently call for division, that there will be churches, that they want to alienate that meadow that is now ours, civic," said Matijeviฤ.
She also said that the facades are private property, and that this location in particular - Fruลกkogorska 19, is constantly under the attack of various hateful graffiti.
"We gathered in this action and it will last. It's not just today. We will fix the priority facades first, and then we will move on to the others because we don't want any more graffiti and divisive messages. We will be united as we have been until now, because this is Novi Sad," she added.
Progressives are repainting
