Attorney Nikola Lakić he said on Tuesday that the prosecution would have to urgently interrogate the girl who is in Nova Varoš on Monday, addressing the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, confessed to the crime, but also to listen to officials Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) which she marked as the persons who offered her myth regarding voting.
Lakić said that the criminal offense of "giving and receiving bribes in connection with voting" is punishable by up to three years in prison.
"Yesterday, during Vučić's address, the whole nation saw a public confession of criminal acts and how his criminal regime wins elections, i.e. what mechanisms it uses to win the elections in an illegal and illegal way. The public confession of a girl that because of a promised job she collected capillary votes for SNS, as well as that her own brother did the same, and that they have evidence for this, and that everything was done on the order of Krsto Janjušević (director of JP Srbijašuma) and Branko Bjelić (President of the Municipality of Nova Varoš) of senior officials of the SNS is another proof that the SNS misuses public resources in every election campaign, but also that a large number of officials commit criminal acts," the lawyer told the Beta agency.
He stated that in the specific case, the mentioned SNS officials committed "at least one" criminal act, namely "giving and receiving bribes in connection with voting", because they promised benefits to citizens in case they voted for SNS and collected capillary votes.
"This criminal offense is punishable by up to three years in prison, however, there is a possibility that they may have committed other crimes as well. As the public acknowledgment that a criminal offense was committed was undisputedly announced on all televisions, the prosecution should respond as soon as possible, to listen to the girl who publicly admits to having committed a criminal act, but also to listen to SNS officials whom she identified as the people who offered her a bribe in connection with the vote," Lakić explained.
To determine on whose orders the SNS officials were working
The prosecution would have to, he added, also inform the public about all the facts and evidence obtained in the proceedings.
"The most important thing is to determine on whose orders the said officials of the SNS were working, because it is quite certain that this is the model of the SNS's actions and that it is an organized criminal group headed by Aleksandar Vučić and that they have been functioning this way for years, which indicates that Aleksandar Vučić would also have to be heard in this proceeding," the lawyer stressed.
He said that all the evidence that exists in the public space indicates that the system of capillary votes is such that numerous crimes are committed during elections.
"That is certainly enough for the Prosecutor's Office to initiate a procedure to identify all persons who commit criminal acts, to accuse them and later prove their guilt through court proceedings. This is not an isolated case because in all elections so far there have been public confessions of people that their election was influenced by paying bribes in order to vote for SNS, and this is precisely why the Prosecutor's Office must act," concluded lawyer Lakić.
On Monday, a citizen from Nova Varoš asked Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in a live television broadcast why she did not get the job she was promised after the parliamentary elections in 2020 if she collected a certain number of votes.
She addressed the question not only to Vučić, but also to the acting director of "Srbijašum" Krsto Janjušević and the president of the municipality of Nova Varoš, Branko Bjelić, who were with the president on the stage.
"Can Krsta Janjušević and Branko Bjelic answer me? I was promised that I would get a job in 2020. I was told then that if I gathered a certain number of votes, I would get a job," said the citizen.
She added that Bjelic is her neighbor and that, as she stated, he has not communicated with her since then.
"I'm interested in why I didn't get that job, and I was promised that I would," she emphasized.
Vučić replied that he should resolve the issue with Janjušević and Bjelić with them.
"What you have with the two of them, you will solve with the two of them. Why didn't you come to them in the municipality?" asked Vučić.
The citizen briefly replied that she was coming to the municipality.
Bjelic and Janjušević are prominent officials of the Serbian Progressive Party in the Zlatibor district.
