While the opposition dealt with whistleblowing and the public with their protest, at the last session of the City Assembly on Wednesday, new directors of the capital's public companies were elected.
They were elected according to a shortened procedure, an accelerated procedure, so without discussion, which is not a new phenomenon in the City Assembly.
The new thing is that the same people were elected again, those who were acting directors the previous year.
Namely, on August 18, the one-year mandate of Bojan Bajagić, Vuk Janković, Zoran Šarac, and Andreja Mladenović as acting directors expired, and at the session on Wednesday they were supposed to either receive the status of directors, or be replaced by new managers.
Councilors, however, were suggested to re-elect them. And again as acting director.
Nemanja Nenadić from Transparency Serbia reminds the "Vremena" portal that "the Law on Public Enterprises has set a limit on acting status of up to one year" and therefore "it would be against the law to extend it".
"The acting status exists until the end of the selection procedure at the public competition," says Nenadić.
The competition for directors of public companies, however, was not announced, and considering that the one-year mandate of the acting status has ended, a new way was devised to keep the same people in the leading positions in the city without respecting the law.
Ironically, he says that the City should be "praised for this move. They, unlike the Government of Serbia, which does not even bother to illegally renew the mandate of the incumbents every year, at least tried to dress up their illegal decision in some form".
The councilors agreed with all the proposed candidates, even though what they have done so far has not proven that they should continue to manage companies vital to the city.
Bojan Bajagić, as before, will be the acting director of the PUK "Belgrade Market", but also the coordinator of the SNS executive board for Kragujevac, and even though he had a few omissions in his work and even excused his absence to employees who did not come to work for several sessions because of party activities.
Vuk Janković, acting director of PUK "Beograd put", studied for 15 years at Megatrend. Or: GSP is in big trouble, according to some, even falling apart, and the councilors still appointed Zoran Šarc to head it.
Andrija Mladenović is still acting PUC "Belgrade Metro and Train", although the budget for the construction of the metro has been reduced eight times, which means that its construction has also been reduced that many times.
According to Nova.rs, Đorđe Mazinjanin was elected acting director of PUK "Sava centar". He has been in that position since 2016. In addition, he is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Telekom.
