After the protest in Belgrade, it is increasingly clear that it is The supposed stability is more important to the European Union from democracy in Serbia, criticizes German Liberal MP Thomas Hacker.
"Maintaining the currently weakly democratic status quo in Serbia is dangerous for the credibility of the EU," says Hacker, who deals with the Western Balkans in the Bundestag.
His Liberals are part of the ruling coalition, along with Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats and the Greens.
In the only reaction to the election and allegations of fraud, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs it was announced through the social network X and called the way the elections were held "unacceptable" for an EU candidate country.

"Disappointment with the EU"
"Alleged stability has a price, and in the case of Serbia, it is paid for by media freedom, the basic principles of the rule of law and the democratic organization of the country," added Hacker in a statement delivered to the media.
He assesses that the "silence of the EU" is the wrong path. "If Aleksandar Vučić is seen as a guarantor of stability and order, disappointment and frustration due to the restraint of the EU will spread even more," assesses the liberal MP and concludes:
