IKEA denies rumors that it donated anything to "students who want to learn"
Sundays at social networks there are rumors that the Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA donated mattresses, beds or bed linen for the citizens who occupied Pionirski Park in the center of Belgrade and present themselves as "students who want to study".
In response to "Vremena's" inquiry, IKEA now rejects such rumors: "IKEA did not donate bed linen or other products for these purposes."
"Our donations and sponsorships are pre-defined and focused on the areas of environmental protection, sustainable development and assistance to the most vulnerable groups of the population," added the statement of the global company, which has a department store south of Belgrade.
Since opening in 2017, IKEA has donated equipment for the elderly, health centers as well as support for socially vulnerable families.
The tent settlement in Pioneer Park, known as Ćaciland, has been under police protection for weeks, preventing citizens from passing through the park between the Presidency and the Assembly.
