"Our professor Danijela Grujić teaches philosophy, a subject we have in the third and fourth years, so how did Danilo Vucevic have a class with her when he is in the second grade? This is political revenge against a professor who does her job in an extremely professional manner."
This inscription was pasted on the door of the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" gymnasium in Novi Sad on Saturday, after the tabloids accused Professor Grujić of forcing the son of Prime Minister Miloš Vucevic to go out on the street to pay tribute to those who died in the accident at the Railway Station, reported Autonomija.info portal.
Previously, the Prime Minister Milos Vucevic accused the professors of the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Gymnasium in Novi Sad of "driving" his younger son Danilo, a student of that school, to the street "in order to supposedly pay his respects to those killed in the accident in Novi Sad".
The director and president of the school board of that high school apologized to Vučević in an urgent announcement.
"My younger son Danilo, who is in the second grade of the 'Jovan Jovanović Zmaj' high school and who is 16 years old, was practically kicked out of school with his colleagues at the request of two or three professors that they had to go out into the street to supposedly honor those killed in the accident in Novi Sad. The children later realized that it was politically organized, they didn't even have the class they were supposed to have after that, I think it was biology," said Vučević.
"Political messages that we should all be replaced, not to say killed"
He stated that "the children were told that they all had to go outside" and that "it was not left to the students to choose, it was an order".
"These are children, they listen to the teachers." They are not grown people. Does anyone think my son would come out to protest against me? In the end, he took part in a performance that boils down to political messages that we should all be replaced at the very least, not to mention killed," said Vucevic.
"Then they called the director of the high school, who said he was on sick leave." I know him personally. Some professors have thrown classes outside. "Not everyone took part in it, most did not, but the department where my son is," Vucevic told Informer.
During the "Stop Serbia" action, there was an incident in front of the Karlovac High School, when some citizens insulted students and professors, in which the president of the municipality, Dražen Đurđić, was also involved.
In the videos from social networks, it can be seen that Đurđić and several other unknown men tried to remove students and professors from the streets.
Sorry Prime Minister, and thank you very much
The director of the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Gymnasium, Radivoje P. Stojković, and the president of the School Board, Nataša Budimir, MSc, responded very quickly to Vučević's claims, who issued an urgent statement apologizing to Vučević.
The announcement stated, among other things, that extraordinary sessions of the Teaching Council and the School Board were held.
It was pointed out that that gymnasium condemns the "politicization" of the students and that school, and the actions of the teaching staff who "used the tragedy for illegal and immoral actions".
Disciplinary proceedings were also announced, and in the announcement there was also room for "institutional gratitude" to the City of Novi Sad, the Province of Vojvodina and the Republic of Serbia "for systemic support in everyday work".
Brnabić: Much more than political abuse of children
President of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabić commented on the case with a post on the social network X.
She first wondered how to react to the fact that "some educator independently decided to take his students out of the classroom and onto the street to participate in a political performance."
"There is a particularly painful fact that this educator knowingly did such a thing to a child whose father is the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia without thinking for a moment about how that child feels or, even worse, thinking about it and with a clear desire to punish child because of his father's political views. This is much more than the political abuse of children which, in itself, would be terrible, absolutely unacceptable, and in any normal society would require the strictest sanctions. "This is a punitive expedition against certain families in educational institutions, by politicians disguised as teachers," said Brnabić.
Opposition in Novi Sad: Class of morals and ethics of students of "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Gymnasium
The Novi Sad opposition, which consists of all the opposition committee groups of the Novi Sad City Assembly, strongly condemned Prime Minister Vučević's "unfounded attacks" on the teaching staff of the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Gymnasium.
In a press release, the opposition states that Vučević is apparently very disturbed by the fact that "almost all students of the most prestigious high school in Novi Sad voluntarily attended a fifteen-minute class on morality, ethics, empathy and solidarity towards the families of the victims, when they left class at 11:52 and stopped."
"Putting responsibility on the professors who stood in solidarity with them, that they persuaded them, and especially forced them to leave class, is a heinous lie, like the one that artificial intelligence is to blame for calling progressives to violence and conflicts with citizens," the opposition stated.
The Novi Sad opposition pointed out that it gives full support to the school team and is keeping a close eye on the reactions of the principal, who is being pressured by the government to punish the professors who allowed the children to leave class for 15 minutes and thus learn more about life, morals and ethical values than in any other which teaching process.
"The Prime Minister of Serbia, from whom we are asking for his resignation because we consider him responsible for corruption, arrogance and arrogance that killed people, must understand that the fire of freedom is lit and that he cannot put it out no matter how hard he tries, but its sparks will fall in all directions and start new fires as there are already on the street, in the university, in schools, state institutions and everywhere throughout the country," the statement said.
PSG: School systems must deal with the education of free-thinking citizens
The Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) Novi Sad condemned today the actions of the director of the Gymnasium "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj"
"Situations like this must serve as a reminder that school systems must deal with the education of free-thinking and responsible citizens, as well as that young people and their views must be respected," PSG said in a statement.
The movement added that it is necessary to reform the education system in which the main attention will be paid to the development of critical thinking and tolerance in children, because this is the only way to prepare them for a successful life in the modern age.
"We consider it extremely unacceptable that teachers and students, who have shown empathy and humanity, are imputed with any kind of abuse, especially when it is known that none of them were forced to participate in this act," PSG emphasized.
The movement provided support to all teachers and students who, through their actions, contribute to the preservation of empathy, freedom of thought and dignity in society.
