The jury composed of Jelena Obućina (Newsmax Adria), Tamara Skrozza (FoNet) and Milivoje Mihajlović (RTS) evaluated the text of Jelena Jorgacevic Kisić "Meetings on broken bridges" as the best in its category. The text was created in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
"I dedicate the award to the people in Kosovo and Metohija who are trying to change and build something in a deeply wounded society, people whose voices are almost not heard in the public here and there, and should be among the loudest," says Jelena Jorgacevic Kisić.
As pointed out at the award ceremony, the media image of Albanians and Serbs is generally black and white, and what is published about the "other side" is mostly negative. Stories about everyday life and peaceful coexistence are most often left untold. That narrative only reproduces and reinforces prevailing perceptions and prejudices.
Whatever and however the Kosovo knot unravels, one thing will never change. Serbs and Albanians will forever be each other's neighbors, hopefully, good neighbors ready to help each other when needed, to drink coffee and talk about a better tomorrow for their children.
