In the days after the election, they were declared an election surprise and those on whom it depends whether Belgrade will get a new government or go to new elections. Now they make harsh statements to each other.
In the first days after the election, Branimir Nestorović's "We - voice from the people" movement repeated in chorus that they would not form a majority with anyone, that neither the government nor the opposition counted on their votes in the Belgrade City Assembly.
And then, somewhat different messages began to arrive from Aleksandar Jerković, who was the holder of the list in the Belgrade elections and a newly elected councilor.
All this starts after the City Election Commission assigned mandates to councilors, and the President of the Provisional Authority, Aleksandar Šapića, invited them to talks about the future of Belgrade.
First, on Monday, Jerković sent a statement to the media in which he asked for a meeting with the representatives of his list.
Jerković, who then introduced himself as a member of the Patriotic Movement "There is no going back, Serbia is behind" which is in coalition with Nestorović's list, stated that it is very important that the election process was officially completed within the legally prescribed time limit and thanked everyone who participated in elections, and especially to those citizens who supported the Coalition "We are the voice of the people", whose representatives were prof. Dr. Branimir Nestorović, on the republican list and Aleksandar Jerković, the president of that movement on the Belgrade list (the movement "There is no going back is Serbia" in 2021 was founded by General Božidar Delić, Albert Andijev and Aleksandar Jerković).
As the answer was not there, Jerković wrote on the X social network: "The presidency of the No Back Behind Serbia movement, at the head of which I replaced General Delic, expects that we will soon talk with our coalition partners from the citizens' association "Mi glas iz naroda" about Belgrade elections as well as current events in Kosmet."
First disagreements
Dragan Stanojević, one of the founders of the Movement, said that Jerković, the holder of the Belgrade list "MI - Voice of the People" is fabricating when he says that he ran in the elections in a coalition with "MI", and not as their candidate.
"You see, it sounds a bit crazy that the man to whom we have given the right to be the holder of our "WE - Voice of the People" list, invites that same movement to talks. So let's talk to ourselves. There is no movement or any other legal entity that has signed anything with us, which can be seen by looking at GIK. The fact that he has nothing to do with the MI Movement is a fabrication, because I personally signed the agreement on behalf of the "MI - Voice of the People" Movement that he can carry our name in the election campaign and be the bearer of our Belgrade list," says Stanojević.
To all this, Jerković replied: "Since Stanojević claims that there was no coalition, then they should no longer interfere with the newspaper Aleksandar Jerković. Neither were they on my list, nor did they mention Belgrade in the campaign (except Dr. Nestorović). They did not put the number 13 on any billboard. They didn't even give a dinar for the Belgrade campaign."
Then, in another tweet, she added: “Okay. From this moment on, anyone who won a mandate on the list of Aleksandar Jerković and is in another committee club will be a flyer. And I will personally file a criminal complaint against him that he received money for that."
Pavlović: There is no such coalition
Branko Pavlović, another one of the founders of the "We - voice from the people" movement, stated that there is no coalition of that movement with the "No turning back, Serbia is behind" movement of Aleksandar Jerković, but that he was only one of the 10 signatories of the agreement on going to the elections as a group of citizens.
"There is no coalition, it's a made-up thing," Pavlovic told Vojvodina Radio and Television.
He added that Jerkovic was not one of the seven founders of the "We - the voice of the people" movement, but that he was one of the ten signatories of the agreement on going to the polls as a group of citizens and that he is now expressing his opinion.
"There is no coalition, there is no other legal entity that needs to be asked something and decide something, and there is no other dissonant tone within these ten people who signed this contract." There is Mr. Jerkovic, who has some thoughts of his own," said Pavlović.
He estimated that the reason for this is because the candidate for the mayor of Belgrade of the Serbian Progressive Party, Aleksandar Šapić, cannot openly "buy the councilors" in order to form a majority, but rather tries to "package it into some coalition partner, who decided to go with them and yes the majority".
Now it can work with both the government and the opposition
Aleksandar Jerković stated for Danas that he leaves the possibility of forming a government with both the government and the opposition. The condition, he says, is that they support the program of his movement "There is no going back - Serbia is behind".
"The movement "There is no going back - Serbia is behind" is not a political party and we have no ambitions for party calculations. It is not important for us to adopt the membership of public companies. It is important for us that our program for Belgrade, which was supported by 5,4 percent of citizens, be implemented," he says.
Today, Jerković posted a video message on IX in which he states that he hopes to meet with Branimir Nestorović, and that he is calling from Russia.
For some time, there has been speculation about Jerković as a councilor who could jump into the ranks of the government.
According to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, the holders of mandates are MPs, that is, defenders, and not parties and electoral lists.
In the Belgrade elections, the Serbian Progressive Party won 49 of the 110 councilor seats in the City Assembly, and the SPS-JS won five. The list "Serbia against violence" 43, while the NADA Coalition won seven.
The "We - Voice from the People" list has six councilors. One of them is Aleksandar Jerković.
In order to have a majority, SNS and SPS lack two votes.
