Minister of Agriculture Dragan Glamočić said at the meeting of the Regional Crisis Staff in Šabac that 28.380 pigs suffering from African swine fever virus , which represents huge damage to the economy.
At the level of the entire country, the most critical situation is in Ruma, where 20.000 pigs have been euthanized so far, the minister said.

He announced that from Monday, July 20, the National Crisis Staff, as well as the local staffs, will meet every day in order to stop the spread of the infection.
"This level of discipline cannot be tolerated," said Mibistar Glamočić after visiting the settlements of Skele and Krtinska in Obrenovac.
"I can state that, unfortunately, the competent services did not do their job. I did not see that any house I visited was marked, even the gates were wide open. This is the reason why we hold sessions of the regional crisis center and local administration in the municipalities," said Glamočić.
According to him, the infection is still present in the area of seven districts.
The virus is unpredictable.
"We have no new cases and districts, we are still in seven districts, with one case in two districts. It is Juznobački district, sporadically also Zapadnobački district, in which we have only one case in Bezdan. The virus is unpredictable and we really have to be vigilant," said the minister.
Until July 9, African swine fever was confirmed in domestic pigs on 496 farms in 18 municipalities and eight administrative districts, whereby 1.015 pigs died in infected farms, while 10.515 animals were euthanized.
Hrtkovci, Macva
On July 9, more than 11.000 pigs infected with African plague were euthanized at the Mistral Komerc farm in Hrtkovci.
Also, in the previous two months, more than 10.000 pigs on smaller farms were euthanized in the Mačvan and Srem districts and in the Belgrade area.
About 24,9 million dinars were paid to the owners of dead or euthanized animals.
The main carriers of the virus are humans, if they do not follow the prescribed measures, while wild boars are the natural reservoir of infection.
African swine fever is an infectious disease that affects domestic and wild pigs, but is not dangerous to humans.
The virus is transmitted through contact with infected animals, contaminated food, equipment, clothing and vehicles.
