Almost two years of rebellion in Serbia, up to this target plane before the elections, showed that society has become ready to make sacrifices for others, for the common good, says the actor in an interview for "Vreme" Milan Maric.
The interview with him is on the cover of the new issue, which is on newsstands from this Thursday (September 24).
And what have these two years shown, Fr to people in power and under power? "These two years have shown me how much monstrosity exists in people and how far they are willing to go when there is no one and nothing to restrain them. It scares me quite a bit."
"We are close"
Marić talks about that collision of fear and great hope, which rests on the fact that it seems that one generation is ready to "sacrifice" itself and end the series of inflicting trauma and frustration on each subsequent generation.
"When I say sacrifices, I mean to get rid of the argument 'nobody gave me anything, so I fought' and to change it to 'nobody gave me anything, that's exactly why I want to give'. We are close to that," says Marić in a conversation with Jovana Gligorijević.
But he warns that the change of government would be only the first step. "And you have to take steps to reach the goal. Do I think that this process will end only with a mere change of government, I really don't think so. Only then will challenges, struggle and work follow."
About babbling and silence
About his participation in the rebellion, he says that he considers it the duty of every citizen.
"Don't be drunk on glory and talk about the exploits of your grandfathers and great-grandfathers, while at the same time you turn your eyes away and remain silent on the injustice that is happening around you now," adds Marić.
"I never thought that my country would end up in a situation where armed criminals with phantom guns stand menacingly side by side with the police, facing people who do not want to be silent."
