Teachers Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade they stay in strike and the decision of the Teaching and Research Council to start compensating tuition does not affect that, said Strike Committee member Professor Oliver Stojković on Thursday.
On Thursday morning, the official blockade of the dean's building of the Faculty of Medicine began, where the members of the Teaching and Research Council yesterday made a decision to support the proposal to compensate for teaching in an online format.
Blockade students who attended the council session protested the decision on online classes, and after the council members left the building on Wednesday, the students stayed inside and decided to block the dean's office where they slept.
"The dean's office is under our lock! The faculty is in a total blockade!" wrote medical students in the blockade, when they posted a photo of the chains on the front door to the building on their official Instagram account.
Member of the Strike Committee, Professor Oliver Stojković, noted that during the strike, which officially began on May 5, only consultations with students are carried out.
"Hybrid forms of teaching, which are not justified for medical students, are not carried out even during the strike," stated Stojković.
According to him, striking teachers continue to provide unequivocal and strong support for student demands.
He emphasized that not a single teacher who wanted to quit the strike contacted the strike committee of the Faculty of Medicine.
The teaching-scientific council of the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade decided that the reimbursement of classes will begin on June 16, it was announced on Thursday on the faculty's website.
