While on faculties maintained enrollment activities, individual deans they throw the blockaded students out of the buildings, Prime Minister of Serbia Đuro Macut states that the biggest educational crisis in the country's history is underway.
He, on the other hand, stated that all state universities are working, and that he is satisfied with the outcome of a series of talks with the rectors of state universities and that he thinks that significant progress has been made.
"All state universities are working, some with greater dynamics, some with less," said Macut for Radio and Television of Serbia.
He stated that he hopes that this trend will continue, primarily with the enrollment of a new generation of students.
He added that he is especially satisfied with the universities of Nis and Kragujevac, because they fulfilled the plan for the academic year, and he hopes that the universities of Belgrade and Novi Sad will do so by October.
However, there is no official data on how many faculties are working and how many students are still blocked.
The Prime Minister of Serbia, who took office in mid-April, has meanwhile met several times with university representatives.
After the last in a series of meetings, they were determined enrollment quotas for the enrollment of a new generation of freshmen.
Crisis chronology
Macut assessed that this is the biggest educational crisis that Serbia has experienced in history.
Shortly after the fall of the canopy of the Railway Station in Novi Sad, when 16 people died, the delivery of mail to the dead began.
At one of these actions, in front of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, there was an attack on students, and then the students started blocking.
Blockades soon spread to all state universities and some private ones, and mass protests began.
There were police actions against students, and attempts to break into the Faculty of Law in Belgrade.
In the meantime, the salaries of professors have been cut.
Then, the introduction of online classes to make up for what was missed, and the holding of exams, began.
Activities related to the enrollment of a new generation of students are ongoing.
Part of the students is still blocked.
