It must have been last weekInform" reached the first working version student lists โ full of duplications, with who knows how many in the exact order and who knows how many names that will end up not being on the list at all.
Some will certainly be stopped by the veto, others may withdraw on their own, as actress and producer Bojana Maljeviฤ did last week. The list, therefore, is not even close to the final one, even though it is presented as such in the regime media.
In the cover topic of the new issue (this Thursday, July 23), "Time" in the text of Isidore Ceriฤ, based on conversations with students and some of the candidates, describes how the Student List is actually compiled.
Hours of discussions
According to the knowledge of "Vremen", in mid-July, students put together a working list of possible candidates from all universities. Then hundreds or thousands of students have an insight into it, so it's no wonder that the matter easily gets out of hand.
"Students told us that it could easily be leaked to the media, and then the name-calling could start," one person from the circle of potential candidates told us.
Law student Petar ลฝivkoviฤ explains how candidates were proposed at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade: "At our plenum, every student who had a vision of who could be a candidate could propose it, explain why and present his biography. After that, several hours of discussions were held about potential candidates."
How is a veto achieved?
As the student movement, colorful in terms of political convictions as well as the entire citizenry, held together from the beginning, it was clear to them that the list of candidates cannot be a patchwork carpet to which everyone adds what they want, without the consent of the others.
That's why the famous "vetering" was introduced. Once a preliminary student list is created, all applicants on it are subject to a "state confirmation" process. This is currently underway at the level of the entire country.
If someone proposes that someone be removed from the list, that proposal, after discussion, must receive the votes of the majority of the plenum. Since this can happen right up to the elections, the final list will not be known until it is presented to citizens for signatures of support.
And who knows how long the public will see "Informer's" student lists by then. Everyone does their job.
