The boy was riding a bicycle in the Kalemegdan park. For unknown reasons, he fell from a height of three meters and sustained serious injuries.
Dr. Vladimir Sinđelić from the Emergency Service said that an eleven-year-old boy fell from a height on the Kalemegdan Fortress on Saturday evening.
"An 11-year-old boy fell from a height and was transported with serious injuries to the Emergency Center for diagnostics, and then to the Institute for Mother and Child," Dr. Sinđelić told RTS.
A man recently died when falling from the fortress
The body of a man VM (39) was found on June 4 around midnight in Kalemegdan.
He fell from a height of 20 meters and died on the spot. The competent prosecutor's office was informed about the case, which ordered that the man's body be transported for an autopsy.
The first results of the investigation showed that the man slipped and fell.
Two unfortunate cases in the space of 11 days open up the issue of supervision and safety of visitors to the Kalemegdan Fortress.
There are warning signs on the Belgrade Fortress stating that certain places are not safe for visitors.
Although security personnel are present at the fortress 24 hours a day, accidents do happen.
Visitors often walk on the ramparts of the fortress, exposing themselves to danger.
In the last ten years, several such accidents have been recorded, and minors were the most frequently killed.
