The Office for Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of Finance imposed sanctions on the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković, the Speaker of the Assembly Nenad Stevandić, the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović and the Minister of Justice Miloš Bukejlović, RTRS reported.
These RS officials are directly responsible for encouraging the passing of a law in the Assembly of the Republika Srpska, which would declare the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina inapplicable in the Republika Srpska, thereby obstructing and threatening the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, according to the statement of the US Department of Finance.
And further: "their behavior further threatens the country's future path and successful integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions."
"We will continue to support the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina in their efforts to uphold the rule of law and ensure peace and prosperity," said US Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson.
Previously, the USA imposed sanctions on the President of the RS, Milorad Dodik, and Great Britain did the same, in a package with Željko Cvijanović.
Regarding the latest package of American sanctions, Dodik said that in that entity "they are not worried about it", and that the USA did not elect the officials of Republika Srpska, so they will not replace them either.
Vučić's associates under American sanctions
The biggest dust-up in Serbia was when the USA put the BIA lark Aleksandar Vulin on the list of sanctions.
Previously, the "Kosovo businessmen" brothers Veselinović and Milan Radoičić who are among the most powerful and richest people in Serbia who turn over millions, have mines, buildings and hotels, and their central construction company "Inkop" works on almost every large infrastructure construction site in Serbia.
According to andguarding Radio Free Europe, Serbia is paying millions of euros to individuals and companies from the north of Kosovo that are on the "black list" of American sanctions. In question are 13 citizens of Serbian nationality, as well as 20 companies that are connected to them, while all of them are connected in one way or another to the controversial godfathers from the north of Kosovo - Zvonko Veselinović and Milan Radojičić. These companies and institutions were placed on the list of sanctions in 2021.
"The Republic of Serbia is not under sanctions, and I think that it would be very bad for the country's reputation if it appointed itself as the defender of the person under sanctions. Due to the protection of the interests of the state of Serbia, the persons under sanctions must be completely separated from the Republic of Serbia in a legal and formal sense, regardless of their social, political or business position", lawyer Tomislav Šunjka, an associate of the International Bar Association, told Vreme on this occasion. , the Anti-Corruption Division, various United Nations agencies, the World Economic Forum and the World Bank.
