According to the first preliminary, unofficial and incomplete results of the extraordinary presidential elections in the Republic of Srpska, Dodik's candidate Sinisha Karan won 50,89 percent of the votes, and SDS candidate Branko Blanuša 45,81 percent.
The results were announced based on votes counted in 92,79 polling stations. Jovan Kalaba, the President of the Central Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced that the turnout was lower than expected, and that 443.472 voters, or only 35,78 percent, voted. In the last regular presidential elections, the turnout in Republika Srpska was slightly higher than 53 percent of voters registered in the voter register.
President of all presidents
Early presidential elections in Republika Srpska took place because Milorad Dodik legally binding sentenced to one year in prison and six years of ban on holding political positions. While there was pre-election silence in the Republika Srpska, Dodik led the campaign from Serbia.
While a guest on TV Prva, the presenter of the morning program addressed him as "president". To another pro-regime presenter, Dodik also explained what he thought:
"Future president, as soon as there is an opportunity to run again, and it will be soon. And in the meantime, I remain the most important person and will be the president of all presidents in the Republic of Srpska. Is that enough?" explained the SNSD president, which caused the audience's enthusiasm.
