It is suspected that on June 14, 1999, in the town of Sofalija, near Pristina, the OS with several members Kosovo Liberation Army killed the married couple Vladimir and Persa Stanisavljević in a cruel and insidious way with cold and firearms, according to the MUP press release.
This arrest comes at a time when the sentencing of former KLA leaders is pending in The Hague. Judgment against Hashim Thaci and others it was postponed to July 20, 2026. The final decision in the case of Thaci and others was supposed to be announced on May 19, within the established procedural deadlines.
However, according to the Rules of Procedure of the Special Court, the judicial panel has 90 days to announce the verdict, with the possibility of an additional delay of another 60 days.
Together with Thaci, Kadri Veselji, Redžep Seljimi and Jakup Krasnići were accused of crimes against Serbs, Roma and "collaborationist" Albanians in more than 40 detention centers in Kosovo and in the north of Albania.
The indictment charges them with persecution on political and ethnic grounds, unlawful deprivation of liberty, torture, murder and forced disappearances, with allegations that crimes were committed against hundreds of people, including Serbs, Roma, Albanians and political opponents of the KLA.
The Prosecution claims that the accused were part of a joint criminal enterprise, the goal of which was to establish and maintain control over the territory of Kosovo by eliminating opponents.
All four pleaded not guilty to any count of the indictment.
