The glass on the front door was broken, the gendarmerie is in full gear in the building. The media reports that tear gas was thrown at the protesters through the window.
Whistles, shouts and sounds of broken glass are heard.
A group of students and the opposition have announced a larger protest against "election theft" for today, and road blockades for tomorrow.
Chaotic scenes began after MP Miroslav Aleksić called on people to "surround" the city hall.
The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who came in front of the entrance, told the representatives of the "Serbia against violence" list that "forcible entry is not possible and that it is a criminal act."
Traffic is blocked in Ulica Kralja Milana from the intersection with Knez Miloš to Terazi, and a certain number of policemen equipped to break up demonstrations are also visible, reports Beta reporter.
They demand that the police leave
"I demand from those who make decisions that the police should be there to take shelter," MP Radomir Lazović, who repeatedly approached the door of the City Assembly to talk to the gendarmes, said in the N1 broadcast.
President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he will urgently address the public. And Lazović had an answer to that.
"That man is a liar, a manipulator, a thief and a thief," said Lazović. "Dude, you lost the election, get out of here." You lost the elections in Belgrade, they were stolen in the republic as well."
According to Lazović, none of those present are in favor of violence, they just want to address the citizens from the balcony.
"We are staying here until further notice," said Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta, another of the opposition members trying to enter.
The protests have been going on for days
The opposition group "Serbia against violence" has been protesting for days against election irregularities that they claim stole their victory in the elections in Belgrade.
Seven MPs are on hunger strike.
"Serbia against violence" claims that around forty thousand people were brought to Belgrade to vote. Since then, they have been asking for a repeat of all the elections.
