The news that on the plateau in front Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade the lifeless body of a twenty-five-year-old girl was found, shook Serbia. Society is additionally shaken by the way in which the regime's tabloids report on this tragedy.
While the investigation is being conducted, the President of the National Assembly Ana Brnabic schedules an emergency session of the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Science and Technological Development, where, as announced, the situation at state universities will be discussed.
We will not allow additional repression to be carried out
The session will be attended by a large number of representatives of the opposition, not only those who sit in the Committee, Peđa Mitrović, MP of the Freedom and Justice Party and member of this Committee, told Vreme.
"The session has been urgently scheduled today for tomorrow with the topic of the situation at universities in Serbia. The reason is this tragic case, and we expect that the government representatives will use this tragedy to carry out an offensive on higher education," says Mitrović.
And he continues: "We will not allow this to be abused, because this is a question of defending the university, but also a question of civilization. You cannot use the tragedy of a girl and her family for the party's agenda and do all this in such an inhumane and undignified way as it is done on 'Informer' television. We will not let that spin get away with them. We will demand a full investigation into what happened and we will prevent in every possible way that the regime abuses this tragic event to carry out further repression".

What is "Informer" doing and in whose name
"Informer" published photos and videos from the scene of the accident, which, although slightly blurred, show the injured girl, which threatens the dignity of the victim, the privacy of her family and disturbs the public.
They also published other personal data that reveal the identity of the victim - her first and last name, a photo of the first page of the index showing her date of birth and the department where she studied, and they quickly politicized the whole event and accused Rector Vladan Đokić of "pushing the girl to her death", along with "mindless blockers".
Mitrović says that his party demands that a full professional and legal investigation be carried out into what happened and that the tabloids be removed from the scene of the investigation, as, as he says, they obstruct the investigation with sensationalist and hysterical publications and destroy the dignity of the victims and the peace of her family.
"It is clear to us that the regime is abusing this tragedy in an extremely inhumane and uncivilized way to further implement its agenda of repression and start a campaign to destroy the autonomy of universities," concludes Mitrović.
The Freedom and Justice Party previously announced that information about that tragedy could not be released to the public without the political approval of the top government, and that the tabloids are taking on the role of the prosecutor, police and coroner and are undermining the integrity of the investigation.
