Open student plenum of Belgrade Faculty of Philology today (Tuesday, July 22) he delegated two female professors to enter the faculty building and try to start negotiations with the administration.
The topic of the conversation was supposed to be enabling the return of students to the faculty, without interfering with the entrance exam, scheduled for July 27 and 28.
Students were kicked out of the Faculty of Philology building earlier today, reports FoNet.
The delegated female professors left the building after short talks with the administration and told the students that they will not be allowed to enter the faculty premises today.
The professors stated that the management requested that the students delegate the negotiation team.
The students decided to close the plenum and make further decisions in the Rectorate building.
It was decided that citizens and choirs would block the entrance and the plateau in front of the Faculty of Philology.
Expulsion of students from the faculty
Earlier today, the dean Faculty of Philology Iva Draškić Vićanović of the University of Belgrade gave everyone a deadline to students to leave the building by 16 p.m.
The N1 reporter in front of the Faculty of Philology said that the students were taking their belongings out of the building.
As reported by FoNet, the administration of this faculty told the students that there is no more sleeping in the building because everything has to be prepared for the entrance exams.
The dean of the Faculty of Philology mentioned in a statement to FoNet that the entrance exams at the Faculty of Philology are planned for July 27 and 28 and that four days are needed to prepare the building and to walk through it, so that it is safe for the graduates who will take the entrance exams there.
"Students were told to take out their dirty things, and these larger ones can still be kept in some classrooms until exam dates. They don't like it, and whenever they don't like it, they start to riot," the dean said.
She also noted that the situation is "completely normal" and reminded that the Faculty of Philology came out of the blockade on June 6.
"All faculties have started working, sleeping on the faculties no longer makes sense and chaos is brewing. We are not a hotel, nor are we an institution intended for that," said the dean and reminded that students at other faculties decided to welcome their future fellow freshmen.
The students in the blockade of the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade called for an urgent meeting in front of the Faculty at 15 pm due to such a decision by the administration.
Students: The blockade is not over
Student Luka Ratović says that the blockade is not over, although the students are removing their belongings and donations.
"We didn't come to remove anything on our own initiative, we were certainly told to do it under orders. I don't know what we can expect after 16:1 p.m., since things have already been taken to be sorted out. I guess we expect a clear answer from the dean and the faculty administration why this was suddenly done now without any announcement," he told NXNUMX.
He said that online teaching was voted against the will of the students.
"It is certainly a class that is not held at the university. It did not include preparation for the entrance exam. We knew that the entrance exam would be held at some point and accordingly we expected that someone would inform us. Of course, that did not happen," he said.
When asked if this means the end of the blockade, the student answers no.
"It absolutely does not mean the end of the blockade. The students are asking for one thing, what they really want is another. We are still in the blockade. The blockade cannot be ended until we agree that it is over," he said.
When asked whether the blockade is now more abstract than practical, he replied that it remains to be seen.
Certainly, it is not the only solution to be thrown out into the street and work there. We don't even know what will happen to our building. "I hope that she will not be under lock and key in the coming days," he said.
